Music Director Kaleb Benda is an American conductor driven by an artistic mission to connect with audiences through entertaining, educating, and enriching performances. Through dynamic score interpretations, a charismatic presence on the podium, and innovative programming, Benda has made classical music relevant with communities and led ensembles to new artistic levels. He currently serves as Music Director of the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony, Music Director of the Oklahoma Community Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the Enid Symphony Orchestra, and Music Director of the Chamber Orchestra at Oklahoma Christian University. Having conducted across the United States and in Hungary, Kaleb Benda primarily performs with the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony and the Oklahoma Community Orchestra. His multi-faceted career also includes serving at the Resident Orchestra Conductor of the Leyenda Foundation, a Graduate Conducting Assistant for the University of Oklahoma Orchestras, and regular appearances with the annual Cool Classics Series where he leads the OK Strings ensemble. He has also conducted the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Texas Chamber Symphony, Medomak Symphony Orchestra, Centennial (TX) Symphony Orchestra, staged performances at the Centre Theatre of the Arts, and other ensembles across the U.S. A proponent of new music, Benda has given world premieres and regional premieres of compositions from composers such as Nico Muhly, Clint Williams, Dr. Daniel Adams, and more. He regularly features new music on programs. In 2021 Benda and Oklahoma Chamber Symphony commissioned Clint Williams’ Greenwood, Archer & Pine, a piece commemorating the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre. He created a Composer in Residence program with the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony. Rooted in traditions of Persian music, his compositions blend ancient textures with modern harmony, electronics, and narrative—often exploring themes of memory, distance, and transformation. Hamed holds a Master of Music in Composition from Oklahoma City University, where he studied under Dr. Edward Knight. His concert music spans solo, chamber, and orchestral works. His compositions have been commissioned and premiered by the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras, ClarinetFest 2024 in Dublin, the OCU Guitar Ensemble, Blue Star Steel Band, and faculty artists from OCU, UCO, and NYU Steinhardt. His large-scale pieces have also been read and recorded by the OCU Wind Ensemble and OCU Symphony Orchestra. He was awarded the Rick McKee Composition Award in 2024 and served as Composer-in- Residence for the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra during the 2024–2025 season. Beyond concert music, Hamed is deeply engaged in interdisciplinary projects, composing original scores for film, dance, and multimedia performances. His collaborations have combined music with Persian poetry, choreography, and lighting design, including site-specific works featured at the Bank of Oklahoma Park Plaza and the Oklahoma History Center Museum. As an audio engineer and producer, Hamed has led large-scale studio projects, including a multi-genre collaborative album. With a background in electrical engineering, he brings both technical fluency and artistic sensitivity to mixing, sound design, and music production. His popular and electronic works are available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major platforms. A member of the Composers Diversity Collective, Hamed currently serves as Composer-in-Residence with the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony for the 2025–2027 seasons.
