What's Special About This Concert:

• The Oklahoma Chamber Symphony joins the Crown Heights Christian Church Chancel Choir to perform Part I of Handel's Messiah, one of the most celebrated works in the choral-orchestral repertoire. Composed in an astonishing 24-day burst of inspiration in 1741, Messiah remains among the most frequently performed works in classical music, and Part I contains some of its most iconic movements, including "For Unto Us a Child Is Born" and the triumphant "Glory to God in the Highest."

• This performance takes place as part of Crown Heights Christian Church's Sunday morning service, continuing a collaboration between the orchestra and the church community that began this spring with Haydn's The Seven Last Words of Christ.

• Audiences can expect the full combined forces of orchestra and chancel choir tracing the Nativity story — from ancient prophecy, to the angels' announcement to the shepherds, to the jubilant proclamation of Christ's birth — through some of the most enduring music ever written.
